At the heart of Duiwekloof Lodge in the Baviaanskloof, you’ll find Elmarie Seton – a passionate cook, preserver of traditions, and creator of delicious boerekos with a unique twist.
From her childhood days cooking on an Aga stove in the Klein Karoo, to working in London and Dublin, Elmarie’s life journey always circled back to her true passion – food. Today, she transforms the harvest from Duiwekloof’s orchards and gardens into preserves and hearty traditional dishes that keep guests coming back for more.
Her specialties range from homemade jams, pickles, and chutneys. Her latest achievement was in August 2025 at the South African Preserves Championship, hosted by Agri-Expo at Lanzerac.
Her handcrafted creations earned top recognition in 2 categories:
SA Champion – Smooth Jam – Tomato & Chilli
Sa Champion – Pickled Fruit – Spiced Quince
Elmarie has also been featured on the popular TV show Plaaskombuis, where her farm-inspired recipes delighted audiences.
